At the Princess Theatre CAMP stands for Creative Arts Musical Perfiormance. In our Summer Theatre CAMPs students will learn basic concepts of theatre performance and production. We focus on ensemble, full mind/body control, the voice and diction as well as building soft skills like spatial awareness, delayed gratification and more. Students will be introduced to almost all aspects of theatre and performance production from acting to dance and even technical theatre. Throughout the two-week camp students will participate in the production rehearsals and preparations such as Set Design, Light Design, Costume Design, Makeup Design and application, and Prop management. These camps are designed to give students exposure to and a foundation in the various aspects of theatre/technical theatre and performance. Students will rotate in morning sessions from Choreography, to Music, and to Acting. After lunch, students come together for a full rehearsal putting it all together. The last hour is about design, and what goes into putting a show together.
CAMP Dates: June 21st-25th
Program Times: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. Drop off at 9 am pick up at 3 pm. Early drop off 8 am late pick up 5pm ($50 per week)
Program Details: Students must bring their own lunch and snack. (NO TREE NUTS OR TREE NUT PRODUCTS ARE ALLOWED)
Students will write and perform their own play or musical based on a well known fairy tale, folk tale, or children's book. They will design and create their own costumes and sets as well. The goal is to familiarize students with the process of all that goes into creating and producing a show. It's a great way to introduce theatre to a student just beginning and it's lots of fun and experience for the veteran performer as well.
Teen Theatre CAMP (Grades 6 – 12)
CAMP Dates & Times: June 28th- July 2nd
Program Details: Students must bring their own lunch and snack. (NO TREE NUT OR TREE NUT PRODUCTS ARE ALLOWED)
Students will rehearse, produce, and perform a short theatrical production. They will design as well as perform. This is a wonderful way to introduce the process for a student who has always wanted to try theatre but never has. It's also lots of fun for the experienced student. In four days they will create their own showcase style work with a theme of their choice.
Students should come with a prepared song and/or monologue, prepared scene and/or duet/trio, and an idea for a group song, dance number, or scene.
